UFC on Versus 6: Predictions

UFC on Versus 6: Cruz vs. Johnson

Location: Washington, D.C.
Venue: Verizon Center
Broadcast: Versus

MAIN CARD (Versus)
  • Champ Dominick Cruz vs. Demetrious Johnson (for bantamweight title)
  • Pat Barry vs. Stefan Struve
  • Charlie Brenneman vs. Anthony Johnson
  • Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman
PRELIMINARY CARD
  • Yves Edwards vs. Rafaello Oliveira
  • Michael Johnson vs. Paul Sass
  • Mike Easton vs. Jeff Hougland
  • Aaron Rosa vs. TBA
  • T.J. Grant vs. Shane Roller
  • Josh Neer vs. Keith Wisniewski
  • Joseph Sandoval vs. Walel Watson
Here we go!

Cruz v Johnson

Both fighters have wrestling background and speed to make this an exciting 5 round title fight but Cruz's striking, footwork and reach should be enough to earn him a decision. Cruz UD

Barry v Struve

Barry need to keep this fight standing while Struve need to take this to the ground, very interesting matchup. While both coming off devastating loses i think Barry will execute his game plan and finish this fight with a superman punch (I really want to see Barry do that to a 7 footer). Barry KO

Brenneman v Johnson

This could be an ugly fight if Charlie can employ the same game plan to beat Story but Rumble is too strong and his striking is very dangerous, Rumble will stuff his takedowns and force him to strike. Johnson TKO

Danzig v Wiman

Rematch. The first fight was not a convincing finish by Wiman but this wont be any different,Danzig knocked out a declining Joe Daddy while Wiman's been fighting tougher opponents and looked dominant doing so. Wiman UD

Edwards v Oliviera

Edwards simply for having the edge in striking and experience. Edwards TKO

Johnson v Sass

Sass is a dangerous submission artist and also undefeated against a strong wrestler in Johnson. I will have to go with wrestling and some serious ground n pound from Johnson, he will beat Paul's Sass. Just realized there are 3 johnsons fighting. Johnson TKO

Easton v Hougland

Both fairly well rounded fighter will alot of finishes on their record. This is a toss up. Easton Submission

Grant v Roller

This will be Grant's first fight in lightweight where he compiled a respectable 3-3 as a UFC welterweight while Roller is coming off a brutal KO loss, i think the drop will be tough on Grant. Roller UD

Neer v Wisniewski

Veterans with well rounded skills but i believe Neer has faced tougher opponents and been on the big stage where that could spell trouble for his opponent. Neer TKO

Sandoval v Watson

I always enjoy watching up and comers take the big stage for it's their chance to prove they can hang with the big dogs and just leave everything in the cage. I will go for the taller submission artist. Watson Submission

Betting Lines UFC 135

http://sports.bodog.eu/sports-betting/mixed-martial-arts.jsp

These are current betting lines for UFC135 as of today 9/20/11, there are few heavy favorites on this card. I tried to pick a 10 fight parlay with all favorites for $30 and the payout is around $900 which not bad where in the past i have placed $5 dollar bet on a 12 fight parlay to win $1500, so it all depends on the money line. I will be placing my final bets this friday after the looking at the weigh in pictures because it helps me determine some factors e.g dehydration.

Good luck!

UFC 136 Predictions

MAIN CARD
  • Frankie Edgar (c) vs. Gray Maynard
    UFC Lightweight Championship
  • Jose Aldo (c) vs. Kenny Florian
    UFC Featherweight Championship
  • Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann
  • Mike Russow vs. Dave Herman
  • Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)
  • Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago
  • Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens
PRELIMINARY CARD
  • Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan
  • Aaron Simpson vs. Eric Schafer
  • Joey Beltran vs. Stipe Miocic
  • Tiequan Zhang and Darren Elkins
  • Steve Cantwell vs. Mike Massenzio

Here we go!

Maynard v Edgar

Toughest pick to call but Frankie's technical striking and wrestling will be enough to contain Maynard and edge out a decision. Edgar UD

Aldo v Florian

Aldo is a beast! His last outing against Hominick showed some holes in his game especially his cardio, If Florian can capitalize on those mistakes he can finally put a belt around his waist. Florian UD

Sonnen v Stann

Wow! Chael is back! This will be a wrestling clinic despite Stann's vast improvement in his ground game. Sonnen will be too strong and too motivated to get another shot at Anderson Silva.  Sonnen SD

Russow v Herman

Russow is a durable veteran that always finds a way to win not to mention he is undefeated in the UFC, but Pee Wee will pick him apart standing using his reach. Pee Wee TKO

Guillard v Lauzon

Why did Joe Lauzon even sign up for this? Guillard KO

Maia v Santiago

Maia's improved striking and wrestling will overwhelm Santiago. Maia Submission

Pettis v Stephens

This fight im excited about. Both always puts on a show and likes to strike, there will be no ground game on this one. FOTN anyone? I will have to go with Pettis due to his technical striking   compared to Jeremy's brawling style. Pettis TKO

Garcia v Phan

Nam's got this! He picked Leonard apart on their first fight and it will happen again. Phan UD

Simpson v Schafer

Simpson will wrestle his way to another decision win. Simpson UD

Beltran v Miocic

This will not get past the first round. Heavy hands will fly and when it connects its over. I see Beltran getting caught by the taller Miocic where all his fights ends due to stoppage. Miocic TKO

Zhang v Elkins

Another import against American wrestler. Elkins' wrestling will be too much for the mongolian wolf to handle. Elkins UD

Cantwell v Massenzio

Both men coming off losses looking to rebound and stay employed. Cantwell hasnt been the same after the long layoff. Massenzio UD

UFC 135 POSTER

UFC 135 Predictions

Welcome Everyone!

This is Oilcheck (MMAMANIA Poster), I thought i'd get some input from mma fans regarding their betting experience and how it makes UFC events more exciting. We can all just have fun predicting and discuss results and possible winnings post event.

Six days heading into the Light Heavyweight showdown between Rampage Jackson and Jon "Bones" Jones we have the opportunity to predict the outcome of each fights for entertainment/betting purposes. I personally bet on every single UFC event with 10-12 fight parlay which i find very challenging but fun. The fun factor increases 50X  knowing that there is something at stake in every fight, it makes me pay attention to unknown fighters on the card and appreciate the sport of mixed martial arts all together. A small wager with a big payout is definitely something to consider, UFC events will never be the same. Guaranteed!

Here we go!

MAIN CARD (PPV)
  • Jon Jones (c) vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson
    UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
  • Matt Hughes vs. Josh Koscheck
  • Travis Browne vs. Rob Broughton
  • Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi
  • Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)
  • Tony Fergusgon vs. Aaron Riley
  • Nick Ring vs. Tim Boetsch
PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)
  • Eddie Yagin vs. Junior Assuncao
  • Cole Escovedo vs. Takeya Mizugaki
  • James Te-Huna vs. Ricardo Romero
My Picks:

I think Rampage can catch Bones coming in for a takedown. Making weight a week before the fight shows how motivated rampage is.
Rampage via KO

Youth + that big right hand is  bad news for the farmboy.
Koscheck Via KO

Travis is on the roll, Broughton is just another victim.
Browne via KO

Gomi lost twice in the UFC via choke, i think nate will choke the chicken in rd 2.
Diaz via rear naked poke (RNP)

If McCorkle can take Hunt down, Big Ben should have it his way and molest Hunt on the ground.
Rothwell via Submission

Riley is a seasoned vet that likes to stand and bang but this time it will cost him the fight due to Fergie's speed and technical striking.
Ferguson via TKO

Ring hasn't really impressed me and i still think he lost to Fukuda, the barbarian will make his ring burn for 3 rounds. Ring will be treated for rectal prolapse after the fight, at least he will be insured.
Boetsch via UD

Experience will be the factor in  this fight and Juniors BJJ will be too much for Mr. Ed.
Assuncao via Submission

Mizugaki is more complete fighter and only loses to top competition, no disrespect to Cole.
Mizugaki via UD

I dont bet on anybody named Ricardo. Almedia and Romero cost me a parlay in the past so never again.
Te Huna via TKO
